Short version: no ads, no tracking, and we keep only what you send us.
Who runs this site: Ely Pina runs plantbased.directory together with Make It Plant Based, and decides what happens with the data below. Contact: info@makeitplantbased.com.
What we collect, and why
- Suggestions and corrections (a new place, a fix, a problem): what you type in the form, so our team can check it and publish it. Sent without an account, we also keep your email to confirm the suggestion and answer you. With each send we note the device type (for example "iPhone · Safari") and the city or country it came from, never the IP address, to spot abuse.
- Claims of a listing: your role and contact details, so we can confirm you run the place. We check through the listing's own email, website, phone or Instagram; of the check code we keep only a one-way code, valid 30 minutes.
- Fair-use limits: a daily count per connection, kept as a one-way code that changes every day, not your address.
- Visit counts come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without following you across sites.
- The map loads its tiles from OpenFreeMap, which sees your connection the way any website does.
- Your theme choice stays in your browser; we never receive it.
Cookies
No tracking cookies. Only if you sign in or claim a listing: one cookie for the few minutes of signing in, one holding a random key to your session (90 days, scripts cannot read it), one that only says "signed in" so the page shows your photo, and one that opens your claim's status page (30 days). Signing out removes the sign-in ones.
One account for both sites
You sign in here with your Make It Plant Based account: no second email or password. This site keeps no copy of your details. What you send while signed in is kept with your account and shown in your activity on your account page; once we approve a suggestion, your name (if you set one) shows on that listing as the person who suggested it. Where it is kept, and for how long
Everything is stored with Cloudflare, which runs the site. We keep a suggestion or claim as the record behind its listing for as long as the listing exists, or until you ask us to delete it. Deleting your account removes your pending suggestions, takes your name, email, device and place off the rest, and takes your name off the listings. We never sell or share your data, and never use it for advertising.
A copy, a correction or deletion
Signed in, your account page shows what you sent, takes back what is still pending, downloads everything or deletes it all. You can also email info@makeitplantbased.com from the address you used and we answer within 30 days. If you live in the UK or the EU you may also complain to your data protection authority.
